about

Well, after spending an age producing the track "Feryx" I could have carried on the same way, except my creative stream was rudely interrupted by the sudden arrival of a Behringer (ARP) 2600 (thanks for buying that for me peeps!). Hence the rest of the album is predominantly made on the 2600.

Guiding Light
Kim had to say goodbye to Kayzar, her horse for 29 years. I wasn't there when it happened. So this is my way of remembering the excellent fellow that he was. It's a simple elemental drawing down blessing. B(ARP)2600.

Fractal Dusk
I had to test out the new synth of course, so this was my initial piece. There's a string/mtron choir pad on it which isn't the 2600, but everything else is.

Cosmic Void 101
Drums obviously not the 2600 on this, though everything else is. 2600s and their various clones make an especially iconic sound which makes them addictive! I actually thought I would struggle to program it because I'm not really into ancient telephone exchanges much. I underestimate myself as ever. I've had to buy a lot more patch cables!

Feryx
...Is a bit of a pun on "Atmospherics". Dream I had of an approaching sunrise / dawn chorus on a distant world. At over 30mins it's actually rather entertaining, just super long.

All these pieces were produced within the Atmos environment, being mixed in 7.1.2 before being converted to 2.0 Binaural. You get a well separated, very expansive result this way. I can't master the tracks in the same way, however. Any noticeable limiting for instance, sounds rotten particularly on the high end. So I've done as much as I can at stem level.
